It’s fitting that Amanda and Garrett Griffin would move to New York City shortly after their Charleston wedding; the couple met at Madison Square Garden nearly six years earlier. Mutual friends introduced the pair at the Big East Basketball Tournament, where Amanda was cheering on her beloved Pittsburgh Panthers. “I had no idea that I would be introduced to my future husband and best friend that weekend,” she says.

Amanda and Garrett spent the next few years developing a longdistance relationship after Garrett accepted a job in Charlotte. “We got to know the roads between Pittsburgh and Charlotte very well, and those roads made our relationship and commitment to each other stronger by the mile,” Garrett shares. “During those years, we both invested a lot into the bond we have, and I would not trade the experience for anything as it taught us both what true love really is.”

The couple turned to a city they’d visited frequently over the years and chose Charleston’s Magnolia Plantation and Gardens for their wedding. “The setting was so elegant with the Spanish moss hanging from the live oak trees and the beautiful blooming flowers,” Amanda says. “It was the perfect location for our special day.”

Amanda channeled her feminine side for the fete, using shades of pink and lacey, gilded textures throughout. “I love and live the mantra ‘all things girly,’ and it seemed only natural to incorporate that into the wedding,” she says. “I was envisioning beautiful flowing pink bridesmaids gowns, gorgeous drapery, huge pink balloons, elegant lace tableclothes and gold Chiavari chairs. Engaging Events helped me to turn my inspirations and visions for the perfect day into reality!”

Planning the event from out of state was challenging, but lead consultant Cindy Zingerella and her staff made the entire process run smoothly. “Engaging Events listened to what our vision as a couple was for our wedding day and helped us to stay aligned to that vision the whole time,” Amanda says. “Cindy runs her organization with utmost professionalism, but makes sure to keep the process fun, creative and light-hearted. She truly cared about making every detail of our day perfect for us and never for one moment lost sight of that.”
