Tuxedo Junction’s story has always revolved around love. Barry Johnson began his journey with the store as a parttime employee, earnestly saving up to marry Clarisse. Life led them to one day purchase the North Charleston store, and it’s been a family business now for eight years and counting. It’s fitting then that this pair, who can beam at one another like they do throughout their workdays, is in the business of helping engaged couples as they begin their own adventures.

Providing personalized customer service and in-house alterations, the Johnsons proudly do it all in a store adjacent to their own warehouse full of bow ties, vests and over 3,000 tuxedos. This means that same-day orders are doable: something no other place in the state is able to offer.

“That’s what we love about our jobs,” Clarisse says. “Checking all of the buttons and hemming pants and sleeves. We put everything together from start to finish. And we love to work with weddings because they’re happy times. They’re very exciting times.”
