There is this really amazing moment after applying makeup on a woman when she looks at herself in the mirror and sees a reflection that she hasn’t seen in a really long time—if ever at all,” Pink Dot Beauty Bar owner Meghan Rae Walker says. “I know firsthand how empowering it can be to feel great in your own skin.”
That feeling inspired the Oregon transplant to open her Meeting Street boutique last spring, which she based on her favorite stores out west. “I was craving a place where I could play and experiment with color and learn about lines I had never seen,” she says. “I literally woke up one day and decided to just do it!”
Pink Dot’s unique offerings include cosmetic bag consultations, age-appropriate makeup lessons, “Beauty and Bubbly” classes and even a “man bar.” And for brides, you’ll find services such as professional Kett airbrushing, false lash applications, bronzing and traditional makeup.
“Pink Dot offers a new perspective in the way you think of a makeup store,” Walker says. “I wanted to create an environment that inherently disarms insecurities and promotes self-confidence.”
