Growing up in Pennsylvania, Francesca DiSalvo-Follmer’s father owned an event venue and catering company, but she never dreamed that she would follow in his event-planning footsteps. “Weddings up north and weddings down here are so incredibly different,” she says. “Everything there is in hotels and banquet rooms.” But when she and her husband moved to Charleston in 2008, a whole new world of weddings opened up to her, and she was inspired to launch Pure Luxe Bride.

“Weddings in Charleston are more high-end, more unique,” she says. “The backdrops here—between the plantations and waterfront venues—it’s nothing like you can get anywhere else. Literally, when you get to a venue you build it from nothing. It allows your creativity to flow. You walk in and it’s a blank canvas.” Drawing from a diverse background in marketing and catering, DiSalvo-Follmer has built a full-service company that tends to attract a particular kind of client.

“We get clients who have a lot of personality because we have a lot of personality,” she says. “We have a lot of fun with our clients.”
