If you want a wedding cake by Linda Blackwell, the owner and baker behind Artistic Cakes by Linda, you’d better make your appointment far in advance—like, a year in advance. Her cakes are so pretty and, just as importantly, delicious that she gets booked up fast. “2014 is almost completely booked, and I’ve got 12 or 15 weddings in 2015 already,” she says.

Blackwell can make anything from the most classic, tiered wedding cake to the zaniest groom’s cake—she’s made one to look like a Krystal burger and fries, and when she spoke with Charleston Style and Design, she was working on a slot machine cake. But whatever your cake looks like, you can count on it tasting amazing. Blackwell has 20 flavors to choose from, including decadent Kahlua chocolate chip and light and airy lemon pound, as well as 15 fillings like chocolate buttercream and butter brickle. And the best part? Your cake-designing appointment includes a tasting.
