Walking into Jeffrey Bannon’s shop in West Ashley is like visiting family.

One immediately feels a welcoming vibe—like being wrapped up in a luxe blanket with Mom serving you chicken soup on a cold winter’s day. Objets d’art, fine china, jewelry, fabrics and furniture are in every corner. The result? Sophisticated homeyness.

“The crux of my business, the core of everything, is the relationships I have with the people who give me the opportunity to be a part of their lives,” Bannon says.

Bannon’s love of design was born soon after he was. Growing up in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, he knew that it was only a matter of time before he would travel, learn and practice his skills as an interior designer.

“We all had treehouses as children where I grew up,” Bannon says with a laugh. “Mine had custom curtains.”

Bannon obtained interior design degrees from Marywood University and the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City before trying his hand in retail interior design in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

But, it was the South that fit his style superbly—and what city says “welcome” better than Charleston? The soft-spoken Bannon brings Southern grandeur, glamour and grace to a whole new level.

Finding the perfect gift for that special someone is easy. Bannon carries a broad range of products and is the exclusive local dealer for William Yeoward crystal, Barb Clawson jewelry and Michael Aram metal art.

His shop also houses unique art and sumptuous interior design elements.

One-on-one design services for weddings and events and hand-delivered gifts for customers are just part of what he calls his “personal touch.”

Bannon’s web business thrives, but it’s the relationships he establishes when helping clients celebrate their important milestones that are most valuable to him.

“I helped one client design her wedding—from invitations to setting design—and then I helped design her home. I’m now designing her second child’s room,” Bannon says.

“My customers are friends, and the majority of my business is from referrals and word-of-mouth,” Bannon states. “When I have customers’ children calling me Uncle Jeff, I don’t know how much better it can get than that.”

Bannon says his mantra has always been: “Do what you love and follow your instincts.” With a global “friend” and customer base, those instincts seem to be working quite well for him indeed.
